Sustainable Eco-friendly Fabrics of Daejin S&T Co.,Ltd. : Huvis Ecoen

Daejin S&T produces sustainable fabrics made from recycled polyester. One well-known example is the “Vintage Canvas” fabric. Unlike regular polyester canvas, Vintage Canvas is made from recycled polyester sourced from discarded plastic bottles. This makes it a sustainable material widely used in the fashion industry.

Taking sustainability a step further, Daejin S&T also produces fabrics using biodegradable polyester fibers. These fibers, called Ecoen, are developed by Huvis. By adding biodegradable materials like PLA, PHB, and PBS, the polyester properties are adjusted to make the fibers both biodegradable and durable.

However, these fibers only break down under specific conditions. Clothes made from Ecoen fabrics can last 5 to 10 years with regular use and won’t decompose while in your closet. They can also be washed just like regular fabrics. But when discarded and buried in soil with proper temperature and humidity, they biodegrade within 3 years.

Using Huvis Ecoen fibers, Daejin S&T produces various fabrics, including Vintage Canvas. While the company already creates Vintage Canvas using recycled polyester, they now also make it with biodegradable Ecoen fibers. This shows DaejinS&T’s commitment to eco-friendly and sustainable practices.

Producing biodegradable fabrics is highly meaningful. Every year, about 78 million tons of plastic waste is generated, much of which is not properly treated. Approximately:

40% is buried in landfills,

32% is dumped into nature,

14% is burned and released into the air,

Only 14% is recycled and reused.

The biggest problem is the plastic waste buried or dumped into nature. If such waste could biodegrade, it would significantly help the environment.

Ecoen fabrics can biodegrade within 3 years when buried. They have similar properties to regular polyester and can be processed under the same conditions, making Ecoen a sustainable, eco-friendly polyester fiber that balances environmental care with product quality.

Daejin S&T’s use of Huvis Ecoen fibers to produce Vintage Canvas is highly significant. Additionally, the company’s patented water-based coating method reduces air pollution and wastewater, making their production processes very eco-friendly. They also use C0 water-repellent processing instead of harmful fluorinated chemicals like C6 and C8. This ensures that their fabrics are safe for humans and environmentally friendly.
